Voucher ($60/Day) - Announcer/Ring Steward/All Day Office Assistant (others at discretion of BOD)
ANNOUNCER JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for making announcements to start the show, upcoming classes, entrants that need to be at the gate, placing of the class leaving the arena, entrants that need to check in with office, sponsors acknowledgements and any other announcement that is pertinent to the show/MoRHA events.
Time of Arrival: ½ hour before show is to start
Attire: None required
They will need to multi-task with walkie talkies to communicate with the Gate Steward, Ring Steward and Office. Must have a clear speaking voice.
• Pre-Announce the start of the show time and first class
• Announce the start of the show, welcome all participants and visitors, announce the judges, show manager, ring steward, gate steward, office manager, sponsors, etc.
• Give a short description of the class for the visitors (State Fair Show)
• Announce when class is complete by communicating with the Gate Steward.
• Communicate with Ring Steward for class placings after class is complete.
• Advise riders to take a few steps forward when each judge’s placings are read and announce placings for each judge by number, name of horse and name of rider.
• When calling riders for classes, use number only – not name.
ANNOUNCER ASSISTANT JOB DUTIES:
To assist announcer with his job duties and be an announcer in training.
Time of Arrival: ½ Hour before start of show
Attire: None Required
Assist Announcer with his duties.
RING STEWARD JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for managing the arena, classes, following the judge’s directives, assisting the judge’s and relaying the judge’s placings to the Announcer. (Should be knowledgeable about ARHA rules and where located in rule book.)
Time of Arrival: ½ hour before the show starts to meet with Show Manager and Judges and get supplies
Attire: Proper western attire (jeans, long sleeved shirt, cowboy boots and western hat)
• Makes the work of the judge easier by helping relieve the judge of unnecessary details. They are there to help the judge, not advise the judge of their opinion. They should refrain from discussion or seeming to discuss the horse or exhibitors with the judge. They shall not take part or seem to take part in any of the judging. They need to place themselves in a position so as to not interfere with the judging and view of exhibitors.
• They must be familiar with the rules of ARHA and have a rule book.
• They need to keep the classes progressing by working with the gate personnel and assembling the class promptly.
• They need to notify the judge when all horses are present and call to their attention which horses are absent.
• They control the conduct of the exhibitors and horses in the arena.
• They need to act as mediator between the judge and exhibitor.
• They have the authority to ask an exhibitor to remove his/her horse for the safety of the other horses or spectators.
• They will need to move or place the horses as the judge advises.
• They will need to communicate with the Gate Steward and the Announcer via walkie talkie as to class completeness and judge’s placings or other requests.
SCRIBE JOB DUTIES:
Time of Arrival: ½ hour before the show starts to meet with Show Manager, Judges and get supplies
Attire: Western attire (Jeans, Long Sleeved Western Shirt, Cowboy Boots and Western Hat)
Assist judge with paperwork, keeping notes and scoring classes.
OFFICE ASSISTANT JOB DUTIES:
Assist Office Manager to take entries, collect fees and help compile classes. Should be knowledgeable about ARHA registration/entry rules and where located in Rule Book.
Time of Arrival: 1 Hour before the show is to start
Attire: None required
• Verify ARHA horse registration name and number from registration certificate (original or copy)
• Verify membership name and number from membership card for owner and exhibitor
• Confirm Coggins Papers(within 12 months) and Health Certificates if from out of state (within 30 days) are current
• Make sure Entry forms are completely filled out and legible
• Verify stall and bedding fees are accurately filled out
• Accept Entry Fees
• Issue Entry Numbers
• Able to make copies of needed forms/patterns
• Help Show Secretary compile class entries
• Supplying class information to judges, announcer, ring steward and gate personnel
GATE PERSONNEL JOB DUTIES:
The gate steward supervises those who enter the arena before, during and after the competition in a safe manner. They are responsible for checking the arena fence for any needed maintenance and making sure all gates and openings are securely closed after each individual or class enters the arena. One gate should be kept clear at all times for emergency purposes.
Time of Arrival: ½ hour before show to start to meet with Show Manager, Judges and get supplies.
Attire: None required
• Responsible for getting the correct people in the arena at the right time. Have entrants check in before the class so you know who is there and who is not.
• Work with announcer to call those that have not checked in.
• Inform the ring steward and show secretary about no shows and changes in the classes occurring at the gate (late entries, incorrect entries, etc.).
• Knowledgeable of ARHA rules and have a rule book on hand to answer exhibitor questions.
GREETERS:
To meet people as they drive up or are coming into the barns and directing them to the show office, stalls, warm up arena, arenas, booths, etc.
Time of Arrival: 15 Minutes before shift
Attire: None required
RUNNER JOB DUTIES:
To help run messages between Office, Announcer, Gate Steward, Ring Steward, Show Manager, barns, etc. Help get Judges, Scribes , Ring Steward and Announcer refreshments as needed.

SET UP CREW JOB DUTIES:
Assist in setting up pens for cattle, moving panels for cattle, taking down pens, setting up barrels, poles and obstacles for respective classes.
Time of Arrival: 5 Minutes before class
Attire: None Required
CATTLE ASSISTANTS JOB DUTIES:
Assist in moving cattle, opening pen doors, etc. during the classes that involve cattle
Time of Arrival: 5 Minutes before class
