June 2008 – Newsletter

POINTS, AWARDS & STANDINGS:  ARHA and MoRHA points should be available to members on both the ARHA and the MoRHA websites. Please notify us if you have any questions about your totals. It is your responsibility to make sure that your points are correct.

WE ARE VOLUNTEERS: Remember that the MoRHA officers, board of directors, and web-master are essentially volunteers. There may be a mistake on our website, our point totals, or in this newsletter. MoRHA is a not for profit organization and not a retail store. We try our best, but do not expect a set of keys from the office if I accidentally write that we are giving out “trucks” instead of “treats.” We thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions or concerns please write us at the MoRHA e-mail address.

ARHA 2008 WORLD SHOW:  The 2008 ARHA World Show will be held in Murfreesboro, TN June 23 through 28. Good luck to all those MoRHA exhibitors headed that way!

ARHA WORLD SHOW JUDGE: MoRHA Vice-President, Maryann Cash will be officiating at the ARHA World Show. We are honored to have such a prestigious judge in our midst.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: MoRHA is the official sponsor of the ARHA World Show Ice Cream Social to be held on Thursday, June 26 at about 1 o’clock in the afternoon. We will be handing out Purity Dairy ice cream cups to any and all that might want to stop by for a refreshing treat. Please see Terry Luebbert if you would like to volunteer as an ice cream server.

MAY SHOW: Despite the price of diesel fuel being over $4.00 a gallon we had 403 entries and 76 exhibitors at the May 2008 show.  Many classes were full with 22 riders in the Jackpot Walk-Trot.

JUNE SHOW: Jimmy Shaw, ARHA judge from TN, was our official at the June 7th show at Midway Expo Center where he charmed us all with his southern accent and his sense of fair play, and his equine expertise.

SHOWSEPTEMBER : September will be “TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK” month. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Susan B. Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness.  Please bring any item you might wish to donate for our silent auction. All proceeds of this auction will go directly to the Susan B. Komen Foundation and put with the donation from our charter. Last year we were able to donate $1000.00 and we hope to top that amount in September 08.  If you would like to donate an item please e-mail us at www.missouriranchorse@yahoo.com and we will discuss what, how, and when in detail with you. Please show your support for breast cancer by wearing pink. Cowboys do look awfully dang cute in pink don’t you know?

YEAR-END-AWARD’S BANQUET: I know it is early, but we are planning the 2008 Year-End-Award’s Banquet for February 7th 2009 at the VFW hall in Warrenton, MO. Jukebox Productions in St. Charles will be supplying the jukebox for our dancing needs. Cattleman’s BBQ catering, owned by members Cindy and Dennis Cappel, will be our catering company.

SYMPATHY: Our hearts go out to MoRHA member LouAnn Salsgiver in the loss of her beloved husband. Our prayers are with you in your time of need.

BACK IN THE SADDLE: Just a note to Debbie Dobbs to hurry up and get well enough to ride at the September show. We are all wishing you a speedy recovery after your recent surgery. We are also looking forward to having Ron  Hippe return as an exhibitor at the September show. Ron had heart surgery a month ago or so and is on the mend.  We have missed his smiling face and will look forward to seeing him in September. We were happy to have Gerry Lamb, who broke her collarbone when she tumbled off her horse, showing with us in June. Way to “Cowgirl-Up” Gerry! Those Conti family kids compete in everything. First Louie had knee surgery and then Lindsey upped him by developing a viral infection and having to miss a few classes at the last show. We are looking forward to the September show when they will both be well and healthy. If you would like to send well wishes to anyone else in our MoRHA member family please let us know via e-mail at the website address given.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS AND DONORS:  Thanks to our generous sponsors for making our show season a success.  Manna Pro Corporation and Charlie’s Farm and Home Supply in Wentzville have made product contributions. Please visit Charlie’s for your entire farm needs and while you are shopping do not forget to pick up some Manna Pro fly spray, equine supplements or other great Manna Pro products. Please tell them how much we appreciate their support of our Missouri Ranch Horse charter.

We also welcome some new sponsors this year. They include Kavanagh Quarter Horses in Elsberry, MO and Wright Equestrian Center in Troy, MO. These two equestrian training and riding facilities provide a range of options for your equestrian education from cattle clinics to barrel racing clinics. Another equestrian facility that has once again supported the MoRHA organization is Crescent Ridge Ranch in Foristell, MO. Crescent Ridge is the sponsor of our $100.00 jackpot reining class and that has created quite a competition.

Edward Hampp Agency of Hawk Point made a cash donation, thank you Marcella.

Chiropractors, Dr. Ava Frick of Union and Dr. Brooks Travis of Columbia, MO also became 2008 sponsors and we applaud their contributions. These are the doctors to see if your equestrian activities have left you a little sore after a day of hard riding.

Golden Hills Trail Ride donated a week’s vacation package for two this year at their 5000-acre private equestrian facility in Raymondville, MO. In addition, Cross Country Trail Ride in Eminence, MO donated a weekend Labor Day 2008 vacation package for a single rider. Both of these trail-riding opportunities were auctioned off at our January award’s banquet. We encourage all our members to visit both of these organized Ozark trail rides and thank them for sponsoring our charter.

Quintana Garcia and Jonathan Crocker, both ARHA members, have donated cash and award items for our high point show program. It’s the support of our members like Quin and John that has made the MoRHA shows the success that they are. A big tip of the MoRHA Cowboy Hat to both of you!

MoRHA LOGO STUFF & HIGH POINT AWARDS: Have you seen the cool high-point awards at the MoRHA shows.  You can thank Tina Beutenmiller, Quintana Garcia and Terry Luebbert of the award’s committee for coming up with these fabulous prizes. These ladies have taste and style and it shows.

WESTERN HORSEMAN: Did you all see the picture of Mike Kavanagh on his 2007 Champion Stallion, Dun It Par, in the June issue of Western Horseman? Look for him next to the article regarding the ARHA World Show. Maybe he will sign your personal copy at the September show?

See you in September – Happy Tails!
